Stinger went to the vet today. For his cut on his paw and for his lump his bum. That I thought might be a cyst. It turns the paws is not all that bad. he will need some stiches and The Lump on his bum will need to be removed . thats is not goood. the vet gave a for 500.00 bucks only cow. All that for a limp on his legs and a cut on his paw.
Plus Stinger is on a antibiotic for infection. for his foot. To help prevent any.
I know where you're coming from, Stinger. I'm often horrified by our vet bills (especially with 4 hounds), but then I think of the education/training the vets have paid for, not to mention the expensive equipment and the expensive meds they use, and I can't blame them for the fees...still, it hurts here!
Our Simon has been having arthritis treatments lately--Adequan injections 2 x a week for 3 weeks at $20 a shot. Then she gets Rimadyl, Tramadol, Cosequin, vitamin E...not to mention tetracycline and niacinimide for her lupus. Zippy needs anti anxiety meds during t-storm season, Dr. Doug had a cardio work-up at the vet college in Ames (he has a mild aortic stenosis), and they've all had stitches or staples at one time or another. I always wonder if pet health insurance would have been a good way to go, but since some of our pups were seniors when we got them, I doubt it would have been cost-effective.
I think our best bet is to keep saving and investing money with an eye to using it for vet care. I just added another class to my teaching load, partly to finance our "hound habit".
Fourpups. God Bless you. I feel for you . I have one greyhound and he is a handfull . Getting into trouble. Stinger has to go to the vet at least 2 a year so far. That is trade mark so far. One for his annual and one for emergancy. So I should not complain. He is a great health otherwise.
However. He will be a Senior this year in the Month of Sept he will be 7. In dog years it 49. Wow.... he old. if you look at it that way. The poor baby.
