I just got the word from the State Fair that Neba is allowed to show in the Jr. Showmanship class and that a person of any age is allowed to show in the Open class of Showmanship. That means...drumroll.... that Neba and Oreo might be going to the State Fair next month!!! I just need to get their Health Certificates done and send in the entry fees!
Yeah, I thought we'd try it again. Entry fees for Morgan's two classes and my class will be $38.00, which includes 2 entry tickets or gate tickets, and two car passes. Plus we have to add in the $30.00 tank of gas it will take, plus another gate ticket IF Bill is home (the show is on a Thursday), plus the two new martingale show collar/leash things I just ordered. It should be quite interesting. I just hope that we don't have to wait as long for our classes as we did last time. If they are going by the printed "schedule" Oreo's class will be the third class, second group and then Morgan will be in the fifth class, first group because they go by age. Then her second class will be right after that doing Pre Novice Obedience. In the conformation classes there are 4 placing ribbons including Best of Breed and Opposite Sex. I can only hope that we can clinch Best of Breed for the Greyhounds!! I picked up the Health Certificate today and have to track down our Rabies Certificates (those go with us), and write out a check and send it off. It has to be postmarked on or before July 31.
Neba was a star as far as we were concerned last week, concidering, but Oreo was a total pig. I hope he's better next time around. I think the 4 1/2 hour wait for his class had something to do with his attitude. It was hot and muggy out and we waited and waited. We were on the verge of going home when they finally called the class. Anyway, if they follow the "schedule" on the computer, it looks like we won't have to wait anywhere near that long. Oreo will be in the 3rd class, 2nd group with Neba being later on in the Junior Showmanship 7-9 y/o, Toy group, then she'll have to wait for the other 2 classes to go before her Pre Novice Obedience.
Today in the mail I got our parking permit, gate passes, and Dog Show Exhibitor card for the Fair!! Morgan and I have succeeding numbers (106 and 107) and I'm guessing we will pick up our numbers after we check in the doggies and turn in our health certificate and they look at the rabies paperwork.
Ok, made the appointment for both to get baths on the morning of the 17th. I'm going to tell the groomer to do Oreo first since he will take longer to dry than Neba. I also have to do a trial fitting of the crate in the car. Don't know how I will get it out of the car with Oreo in it IF it fits. I'll probably scare the poop right out of him doing it! Maybe I'll just fold it up until we get it out of the car and hopefully I can rig up something with Morgan's wagon. Bungee cords or something!

Neba will be the hard one to do since she has never had to have a real bath before in her life! I trimmed the hair in her ears last night, but I'm leaving it to the pro's to deal with Oreo. It should prove to be interesting.

I think what 2hounds was doing was comparing a skin kid boy to Oreo in that neither one likes to have a clean face!! Oreo will try to back out of his collar in order to NOT have his face cleaned, even with a washcloth!!
Well, we are in the final 48 hours until show time. YIKES! Tomorrow will be the fitting of all of the "stuff" that is going with us and then Thursday morning is the puppers morning at the "spa" (as Leslie calls it!!! ), then when we pick them up at the spa, we head to Des Moines.
Miss Neba would like a cuccumber wrap please and a pedicure. Though I think she would probably prefer the "mud bath". Am going to wish you all luck again. I know the kids are going to do well. Hugs to all.

No, she doesn't like to get her feet wet or dirty! She is completely a princess!
OK Michaela, I know its time to go. We want pics and a full report as soon as you get back. Pics from the spa also. Tell Miss Neba not to shake or be scared at the spa. She'll love it. And NO eating contests! Love to my God-dogs.
